Trouble Zoo Ostrava. The interest is huge, it works without restrictions, but ... The Poles are missing

By the end of June, about 170,000 people had visited the Ostrava Zoo. That is about 53 thousand more than came in the same period last year.

"This is partly due to the fact that we still lack visitors from Poland. They normally account for up to 40% of attendance. Then it's also the weather. In the rain or high heat, fewer people come to see us, ”explained Ostrava Zoo spokeswoman Šárka Nováková.

The number of people in the zoo is currently not limited and the capacity of the area can be filled to 100%. So visitors do not have to worry about not getting inside. However, everyone must follow the established hygiene rules. They are obliged to have a respirator in all indoor areas and to keep two-meter distances from other groups. It does not have to prove by a test.

Most of the pavilions are open. However, there is a maximum number of people allowed. "Currently, the Little Amazon is closed due to small capacity and also the Pavilion of Indian Animals due to the arrival of a new male Indian lion," Nováková pointed out.

There is also a Saola restaurant, a souvenir shop, a zoo and snack stalls.

During the summer holidays, the zoo management decided to extend the opening hours. It is now possible to stay in the area for an hour longer, ie until eight o'clock in the evening. However, visitors can get inside no later than six o'clock, when the cash registers and pavilions are closed.

A novelty of this summer is also the possibility to come to the zoo with sightseeing doubledeckers, or double-decker buses. They have been running on weekends and public holidays between Dolní Vítkovice and the ZOO since 5 June. According to the Czechoslovak Conveyor server, however, people do not use them much yet - MORE HERE.

"It is still premature for us to evaluate the operation of doubledeckers on line no. 88. The line has been in operation for a short time, moreover, under exceptionally difficult conditions affected by the coronavirus pandemic and its consequences, "said Tereza Šnoblová, spokeswoman for the Ostrava Transport Company.

The connections run at half-hour intervals. There is also space for wheelchairs or stroller passengers. The cars are subject to the standard public transport tariff and the ticket can be paid for with a payment card directly on the bus.
