However, the Vlčkový family foundation plans to renovate it and build a children's hospice with a palliative care center on the premises, as well as educational and community spaces for the public. The Vlčkový family foundation acquired the entire site with an area of 11,595 square meters, including the nearby Chinese Pavilion. The transaction was carried out by buying out one hundred percent of the shares of Cibulka a.s., which owned the building for the past thirty years.

"We have ready resources for the reconstruction and restoration of the homestead. Our first rough estimate of the cost of building the new Cibulka is between 300 and 350 million crowns. It is an amount including the planned medical equipment, but not including the funds we have already spent on the acquisition of the real estate itself," Ondřej Vlček, co-founder of the Vlčkový Family Foundation, describes the plans.

“The complete completion of all works by 2026 is realistic. This will be exactly 200 years after the site was in its heyday thanks to its then owner, Count Leopold Linhart Thun-Hohenstein. We will undertake the reconstruction responsibly, with respect for the history of the entire area and the distinctive spirit of this place," says Ondřej Vlček.

"We are excited about the potential that Cibulka offers, and we believe that we will succeed in combining the preservation of its historical value with the requirements for a top medical facility of the 21st century. We do not yet know exactly what the new form of the homestead will be. It will only be revealed by the result of the architectural competition, to which we will invite renowned architects. We will carry out the restoration of Cibulka in cooperation with experts in heritage preservation and also after discussion with people who are closely connected with the surroundings of the homestead," adds Vlček.

Košířská estate Cibulka has a rich history. Already in the 14th century, the hereditary court of the Košir nobility, which belonged to the scribe of the royal kitchen of Charles IV, stood on the site of the old vineyards. Jindřich Names. The estate acquired its current form of an empire castle in the first third of the 19th century. The entire complex consists of the main building, outbuildings and stables.

The estate reached its greatest growth between 1817 and 1826, when the art lover, bishop and prince of Passau, Count Leopold Linhart Thun-Hohenstein, had his residence at the time expensively renovated. However, after his death, the homestead gradually fell into disrepair despite repeated attempts to save it. Currently, the campus is in a state of disrepair. There is a long public debate about saving the site.

"The city district has been dealing with the unhappy state of Cibulka for a long time. She started with the reconstruction of the Chinese Pavilion and subsequently decided to negotiate the purchase of the entire homestead. This plan was even approved by our council and was in an advanced stage of preparation. In the meantime, however, an investor was found in the form of the Vlčkový Family Foundation, which came up with a publicly beneficial and clear goal to restore Cibulka to its former beauty and make it accessible to the public. We are therefore very supportive of the new owner's plan and will support and help him in his difficult task," says Lukáš Herold, deputy mayor of Prague 5.

One of the basic principles that the new owner will follow is full transparency. Steps related to the demanding restoration of the Cibulka homestead, as well as all key decisions, will therefore be continuously published on the newly established website www.novacibulka.cz dedicated to this project. In this way, everyone will be able to follow how the reconstruction of the area is developing and whether the project is coming to a successful end.

Representatives of the Vlčkový Family Foundation will also be in regular contact with people from the vicinity of the homestead and with communities that have a long-term interest in the homestead and its fate.

"It is important for us to get to know the life in the surroundings as best as possible, in order to integrate the renovated Cibulka into it naturally and for the benefit of as many people as possible. We are very happy that we managed to acquire a suitable property in this location for our purpose. Due to its proximity to the Faculty Hospital in Motola, its size and beautiful surroundings, the homestead is ideal for the care of seriously ill pediatric patients and their families. We want to build a children's hospice and palliative center here for them with all professional care," explains the foundation's intentions and her feelings, doctor Katarína Vlčková.

"In addition, we will open community and educational spaces with a cafe in the area, which will become an integral part of the surrounding life and offer experiences, culture and relaxation to a wide group of people. We would like it to lead to a natural connection between the public and the families of seriously ill children that the center will serve. And the fact that, in addition, it will be possible to save a valuable historical immovable monument, which for centuries has been waiting for a suitable use, makes our joy even greater," adds Vlčková.

Married couple Katarín and Ondřej Vlček invest assets in the newly established Vlčková Family Foundation worth 1.5 billion crowns. Roughly a third of the total amount is intended for the purchase and reconstruction of the Cibulka homestead and the first phase of operation of the entire building and foundation. The remaining part of the assets will be designated as the principal for investments, the income from which will continuously and long-term finance all the operations of the foundation.

The Vlčeks continue the activities of their six-year-old charity organization Zlatá rybka, whose mission is to fulfill the wishes of children suffering from life-threatening illnesses. Katarína and Ondřej Vlček are raising three sons together, and they consider the foundation and everything related to it, including the reconstruction of the Cibulka estate, to be an ideal means of meaningful use of the family property in the long term.

Thanks to her work as a doctor in the Cesta domí mobile hospice, where she meets not only adults but also child patients at the end of life, Katarína Vlčková perceives the demands and the need for long-term care for seriously ill children.

Ondřej Vlček, as CEO of Avast, has experience in managing complex projects. Thanks to his quarter-century-long tenure at this global software company, he also acquired the assets that enable the family to fulfill the goals of its foundation.
