The army will not return, they regret it in Josefov. The region wants a depository in the barracks

The area of ​​the original cavalry barracks was created in the years 1780-1788 inside the Josefov military fortress. officers and crew lived there, in two tracts on the ground floor there used to be stables for horses, and fodder was stored in the attics. Later, the barracks began to serve artillerymen. The soldiers left the barracks in the early 1990s. years of the last century, the city acquired them free of charge.

The barracks consist of a vast building with an asphalt courtyard, adjacent to Masaryk square with the church. It is also adjacent to the site of a former military hospital. The Late Baroque building is protected as a monument, the three-story building of 16 thousand square meters is abandoned. The estimated costs for the reconstruction of the Square barracks are 1.2 billion crowns.

Josefov has been a municipal heritage reserve since 1971, the city owns 90 percent of the real estate there. About 7 billion crowns would be needed for total repair of the fortress. Both Jaroměř and Terezín are trying to get the state to decide on systematic support for both fortresses.
