Proud, Three Brothers, The Promised Princess. The Ústí region is also a fairytale

Magnificent castles and chateaux, breathtaking nature, beautiful corners. The Ústí Region also offers this, so it is often sought after by filmmakers. Many traditional and modern fairy tales have also been filmed in the region. Let's recall a few of them, many of them will be seen on TV screens during the Christmas holidays.

Let's start with the legend of legends. The proud princess, which has been delighting audiences since 1952, was also created in Děčín. Do you remember, for example, the scene where Krasomila, played by Alena Vránová, and Miroslav, i.e. Vladimír Ráž, hide from their pursuers behind a rock? This is Panská skála near Kamenické Šenov.

Another popular shot from this classic fairy tale was also shot in Děčínsk. The place is located in a meadow near Huntířov, in the background is Růžovský vrch. In the fairy tale, there was a signpost, a border between two countries. "The border between Miroslav's Kingdom and the Midnight Kingdom, King Miroslav is passing this way and on the way he meets a cobbler who jumps off to sing from the Midnight Kingdom to a neighboring country," is how the filmovamista.cz server describes the shot, which deals with finding real places where popular films were filmed.

And do you remember how Miroslav walked past the coalman's house? It was near Zadní Jetřichovice.

But let's remember another legend, the film Three Nuts for Cinderella. Several shots were taken in meadows and forests in the Podbořan region. For example, one of the shots that were filmed for Cinderella in the vicinity of Lužka is around fifteen minutes into the film. "While they are welcoming the king and his party to the farm, Cinderella goes for a ride on her horse Jurassic. This Cinderella ride was filmed in the surroundings of the Lužec castle," reads the website filmovamista.cz.

One of the legends also claims that the castle Lužec is the film home of Cinderella. No, the legend is not true. The filmmakers only had a background at the castle, the shots from the farmhouse where Cinderella lived were filmed at the water castle Švihov in the Pilsen region.

Do you like the movie Three Brothers from 2014? He also has a North Bohemian footprint. When Vojtěch Dyk, Tomáš Klus and Zdeněk Piškula arrive at the castle where Sleeping Beauty is enchanted, they are actually at the Dresden Lookout on Děčínský Sněžník.

Dolský Mlýn near Kamenická Stráná, near Hřensk, is also very popular with filmmakers. For example, the fairy tale Peklo s princesse with Jiří Mádl and Tereza Ramba in the main roles, or the film The Lost Prince was created there.

Director Dušan Klein again liked to return to Krásný Dvůr castle, where he previously filmed the legendary Poets. In 2001, he filmed the fairy tale Arnoštka there. The castle, the courtyard and the park played a part in it.

Do you prefer not quite traditional fairy tales? Then you might be interested in The Promised Princess from 2016. The fairy tale features a king, a queen, 12 princesses and also pirates. It is based on the motifs of the well-known Goldilocks, processed but in an unconventional way. The main roles belonged to Jitka Čvančarová and Martin Stránské.

While in reality the castle is surrounded by hop fields, turned into an island kingdom for the purposes of the fairy tale, in the film it stands on the shore of the sea.
