However, the dog is sometimes a concern, especially when he gets sick. "The symptoms of dog diseases are one thing, but we are mainly concerned with revealing the cause," says Anna Šrenková, a veterinarian of internal medicine at the Jaggy Prague Clinic, who until recently worked at the Giessen University's Small Animal Clinic in Germany.After a one-year internship, you worked in Giessen for three years at the university clinic there as a doctor of internal medicine for dogs and cats. How different do veterinary practices differ in our country and in Germany? In Germany, it is at a completely different level, the whole system of education is different. In the Czech Republic, anyone who graduates from the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno is a doctor and can do what they see fit. You graduate from university in Germany and are "just" a vet. To become a doctor, you still have to study and write a doctoral thesis. At the same time, you have the opportunity to obtain a higher international education that is recognized worldwide. Thanks to this, there are quite a few specialists at the world level, while in the Czech Republic you would count a maximum of five.
