The state requests confirmation of the main activity from the self-employed to apply for nursing home benefits. Pay attention to the deadlines

Hospital allowance for the self-employed is a special subsidy paid by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in connection with closed schools and now also kindergartens. Only those who are self-employed for their main activity can draw the subsidy. This has been one of the basic conditions for the payment of this support from the beginning.

On the basis of your application for sick leave, the Ministry of Industry may ask you to document this fact. And repeatedly.

Prove that you were registered as a self-employed person for your main activity in January 2021 with a credible confirmation from the relevant Czech Social Security Administration, the author of the article received on Monday, March 22. At the same time, roughly a month before, she provided the Ministry of Industry with a certificate issued on February 22, 2020, that she was self-employed for the main activity from 2017 until this date.

How to proceed

If you sent your application for nursing allowance by data box, the ministry will contact you with a request to complete the information via data box. If you sent the application by post, the request to complete the information will be sent to the contact e-mail you entered in the nursing allowance application. Such an e-mail will have Invitation to complete the application in the subject.

To request the issuance of such a certificate, you must contact your local District Social Security Administration (OSSZ), which maintains your records. Based on your request, it will issue a so-called Communication in which the status of your records valid on the date of its issue is recorded. In it, they will confirm to you that your self-employment is considered the main one.

It should be noted that the OSSZ does not issue a confirmation of the nature of self-employment, but only informs what the nature of self-employment is recorded for the purpose of paying pension insurance advances and contributions to the state employment policy in a given month. This results from the legislation, which, among other things, allows the nature of self-employment to be changed retroactively, with the submission of the Summary of Income and Expenses for the past calendar year. The MPO is informed about this fact, the communications department of the CSSS said.

The CSSS has not set up any special form or collection e-mail where requests for these confirmations (Communications) could be sent. So contact your OSSZ as you are used to. It is possible:

ČSSZ, like other authorities, prefers electronic communication during the pandemic in order to avoid unnecessary personal contact and thus protect your health and that of its employees. It is therefore most convenient to contact her via a date card or e-mail. However, if you do not have a date card and you are afraid that the e-mail will be misplaced, you can arrange for a confirmation to be issued by phone or come to the relevant OSSZ in person.

If you choose telephone contact, it can sometimes be difficult to call (personal experience at the Biskupská branch of the Prague Social Security Administration, where it was not possible to call repeatedly even during office hours), even during office hours, which are Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Watch the deadline so you don't miss it

Whatever method of communication you choose, make sure you receive the confirmation on time. The Ministry of Industry wants to send it within 14 days from the day on which it delivered the invitation to you with a request for additional information. The CSSA has up to 30 days to process your application according to the administrative regulations. It shouldn't take her that long, but if she sends you the confirmation by mail, it will take a few days (it can be a week - personal experience). If you have a deadline, it may be safest to visit the branch in person, even given the current situation. If you do not complete the application by the required deadline, you risk losing the money from the nursing home.

The social worker does not send the issued confirmation by e-mail, which makes the whole situation longer and more complicated if you do not have a date card. He will send it to you either by data box, by post, or you can pick it up in person.

In view of the fact that for the Ministry of Industry and Trade this communication is one of the documents for the payment of subsidy support, it is necessary to submit the original communication, the press department of the CSSS explained the reason.

You can deliver the received confirmation back to the Ministry of Industry in two ways:

Applications for February are currently running

The self-employed can currently apply for nursing allowance for February via an electronic form until April 19, 2021. The amount of nursing allowance for one day is 400 crowns.

You can apply for nursing allowance for every calendar day, including weekends and holidays, with the exception of spring holidays. Their date varies from district to district, somewhere in February, in others until March. If you didn't get the spring break in February, you are entitled to a 28-day nursing allowance in the amount of 11,200 crowns. If they have been approved, you can request a nursing home allowance for only 21 days, in the amount of 8,400 crowns.

Basic conditions for drawing

As we have already mentioned, you can draw nursing allowance as a self-employed person for your main activity. Other conditions are as follows:

If you are caring for a preschooler, first-grader or second-grader, you can apply for nursing home for February only if your child could not attend school, kindergarten or other type of preschool due to quarantine in the family or the facility in question. (Preschool and 1st and 2nd grades were only closed in March based on government regulations.)
