Wooden buildings are experiencing unprecedented popularity, saving costs and the environment

Wooden buildings are a great solution even for the most demanding users. Thanks to the maximally efficient use of all materials, excellent results can be achieved in wooden construction - both energetically and acoustically. The increasing popularity of wooden buildings is also evidenced by the number of buildings built in 2020 by companies under the auspices of the Association of Prefabricated House Suppliers. A total of 497 family houses, 12 buildings (nurseries, hotels) and 12 superstructures were built, a total of 3% more than in 2019. The ideal complement to wooden buildings is mineral insulation, which is also made from natural, recyclable materials and is environmentally friendly . "URSA's mineral insulation achieves the best thermal insulation, acoustic and fire protection parameters on the market. Thanks to them, wooden buildings are a truly ecological and healthy solution," explains Tereza Vojancová, an architect from URSA.

Diffusion closed or open structure? Choose the appropriate type

During the planning of the wooden construction, we consider two construction options: diffusely open or diffusely closed. The diffusion-open structure allows a certain amount of water vapor to pass through the structure, thanks to which it is more resistant to small inaccuracies in the construction and regenerates better. The diffusion resistance of the individual layers of the wall must decrease from the interior to the exterior. "The amount of penetrating water vapor is regulated by the URSA SECO SD 2 vapor barrier. The advantage of this vapor barrier is that it allows water vapor to be released back into the interior during the summer," says architect Vojancová from the URSA company.

On the other hand, a diffusely closed structure prevents the penetration of water vapor into the structure. Towards the interior, a vapor barrier must be used, e.g. URSA SECO SD 100 vapor barrier film, which prevents unwanted penetration of moisture into the internal parts of the structure. Precise execution of all connections and pasting of penetrations will ensure 100% tightness of the vapor barrier.

"It is up to each individual which of the above constructions he uses for wood construction. Each of them has its advantages. Personally, however, when constructing a wooden building, I recommend working with a diffusely open structure. Although it is more expensive, it is safer because it has a greater potential to dry out, which helps the structure in wooden buildings to regenerate better," concludes Vojancová.

Choosing ideal materials for wooden construction

The combination of wooden construction and mineral insulation creates a pleasant, healthy indoor environment created from natural materials. Their combination can ensure the desired comfort for the end user. Glass-based mineral insulation has been a time-tested tradition of insulation in frame constructions for years. "One of the products we offer is URSA PUREONE mineral insulation. It, like the URSA GLASSWOOL insulation, achieves the best acoustic, thermal insulation and fireproofing results, but is also free of residual formaldehyde. It is also suitable for environments with higher hygiene requirements, for example in children's rooms, medical facilities, etc.," explains architect Tereza Vojancová.

URSA PUREONE mineral insulation is truly environmentally friendly: thanks to modern production technology, it saves up to 600 times more energy during its lifetime than is needed for its production.

Detailed thought-out, high-quality execution

Ingeniously thought-out and high-quality insulated construction using URSA mineral insulation will undoubtedly ensure the satisfaction of the end user. The building will be truly functional and maximally efficient, it will achieve comfortable acoustic and thermal insulation properties. In addition, URSA mineral insulation is a non-flammable material with fire reaction class A1, which increases the fire safety of the entire structure. The resulting wooden building with URSA mineral insulation used will be a healthy, pleasant and safe space for the benefit not only of its user, but also of its surroundings.
