How is the dream built in the "retro apartment" where time stopped forty years ago

The inherited apartment in which everything remained as the faithful parents had made it more than forty years ago, resembled a museum of socialist housing rather than the present.Adelka was so ashamed of her friends for how she lives, so her mother would like to give her a nice girl's room.

Even Věra itself would benefit the apartment a lot.The death of parents who have died for less than a year in a row, and her relevant personal life still causes depression that sometimes does not solve in an adequate way.And that was what her cousin Jana wanted to prevent.

Now the chances of change have come: the transformation of the apartment was taken care of by architect Marek Postný and designer Andrea Hylmarová.

Apartment where time stopped

Věra lived in the apartment as a child, returning here only recently to help parents.Their death and the sad course of their dying were hit strongly, lost their loved ones and felt that no one would help her anymore.

The apartment looks practically the same as when parents moved into it more than forty years ago.There are still old wallpapers, umakart core, old kitchen and original furniture.

The need for a new children's room is mainly needed.Adelce has been for eleven years and would need space where she could prepare for school.Věra sleeps with her daughter on a folding bed she slept on when she was little when she was little.

The bed in the second room is almost new, but Věra is unable to use it, because she bought it for her mother who spent her last weeks of her life.

Věra and Adelka would also like a new bathroom.The whole apartment is actually one big retro.The apartment never passed by reconstruction, even during the life of parents.There is a lot of "tooth of time" on carpets, wallpapers and especially on the umakart core.

Fighting time and especially with neighbors

“The transformation was one of the most demanding.From the beginning it was clear to us that here is the only solution radical cut, ie start completely again and go to complete reconstruction.Rather, we were looking for a way to do this in just five days, ”recalls designers Andrea Hylmarová and Marek Postný.

The apartment suffered from all the ailments of prefabricated houses, from old wiring to umakart core.Even the furniture was completely original, which on the other hand had its charm.

The designers left only a small room in its original condition where my mother spent the last weeks of her life.It was a time, but also that Věra could deal with the past and began to definitely new life...

The biggest problem of reconstruction was eventually becoming unwilling neighbors.“Of course, this extensive reconstruction carries a lot of noise and dust, on the other hand, the degree of non -wishes and obstructions by some of the residents of the house was absolutely unprecedented for us.She took us the joy of work and deprived us of valuable hours, which eventually resulted in the overtime of the transformation period of the whole day, which is absolutely unique in this show, ”describes the designers.

Yes, the reconstruction is not pleasant for neighbors, but here the partitions were not cracked, the floor was only glued, the bathroom umakart core disappeared in one morning.While the reconstruction of apartments in a block of flats lasts four to twelve weeks, it was five days.Nevertheless, the work had to end at 6 pm (while the statutes of the teams or SVJs determine the end of the work during reconstructions usually for 19 hours).

When we realize that this television show helps people who are very badly on it and they would not reach the transformation themselves, it is not possible to dominate the adage of a neighbor and goat…

The designers left the drawers of the drawing chest of drawers and the bookshelf from the original equipment.Today it is very popular retro pieces.

“We've been clear about the style from the beginning.We wanted to create a modern interior with elements retra.We really liked the original veneered housing wall, which we eventually used as one of the key elements.In the same natural oak decor we chose the door and left the rest of the interior in a simple, mostly black and white combination, ”describes the designers.

In the nursery they used a wallpaper with a distinctive geometric pattern and also fine powder pink color for textile decorations.

“We only changed the space between the kitchen and the corridor.We stopped the original door and used as a storage space for a washing machine with a dryer, which released the desired space in the bathroom, ”adds Marek Přímný.
