Garden masters: A weedy lawn at a terraced house turned into a cultivated space with flowers
Garden masters: The weedy lawn of the terraced house turned into a cultivated space with flowers
The clueless owners had almost nothing in the garden around their terraced house, only weedy grass. At the same time, their dream was a garden with a beautiful lawn that would dominate the space.
Dana Makrlíková and her team presented the design of curbs and decorative flower beds, which made the garden special, but at the same time fulfilled the wishes of the owners. The garden is also on a slope. The latter had to be planted with vegetation so that it would quickly grow together and form carpets of various flowers.

The basis with which the team worked was a weedy lawn, which the landscape architect had removed without the use of chemicals, by milling. A special device essentially rips up the garden and the sod and weeds are thus removed into the prepared container.
"During such work, it is necessary to ensure that dandelions and other weeds with long, deep roots are really thoroughly removed so that they do not grow again," comments Dana Makrlíková on the beginnings of the transformation and continues:
"In the second phase, we brought new soil to the garden, which leveled the entire area. And the work could continue. Next to the terrace there is now a slope, then a level, then another slope towards the fence. We planted everything with lush vegetation."
On the edge of the slope, there is a Susan magnolia, which blooms in spring. In the garden, there are also rock plants such as clematis or taricka, heather, lavender, Japanese boxwood and dwarf knee pine.
Along the fence grow marigolds, viburnums, viburnums or beautifully blooming hydrangeas and flycatchers. The garden also has a small front garden in the shade, where Dana has planted rhododendrons, azaleas, cacostas, periwinkles, hostas and other shade-loving plants.
