Czech Frank Sinatra, as Laď is called because of his captivating voice, could see the farm through the fence of the house where he lived. "I love things and people destined to perish. So I decided to buy the ruins and build the house I always dreamed of," he recalls. A lot of people were shaking their heads at his intention. But ten years have passed, and the dream has come true!

A pond with a totem pole welcomes you

A copy of the Laď Indian totem was carved by 5 carvers from a single piece of tree. "I am bound to the water. I was a rower, I raced on four and eight oars. I spent a quarter of a century at sea. And so I don't know a better balm for the nerves than sitting by the lake, not thinking about anything, putting worries and problems behind," he confides.

The lake is ruled by a tall totem pole. Why him? "In 1960, I founded the Tomahawk tramp settlement, composed of singers and musicians themselves. People know this, so some time ago the 80-year-old carver Karel Voda came to me with 4 friends and offered to carve this particular totem for me. It's an exact copy of a Native American totem pole from the Vancouver area, and each of the carvers carved one figure.''

A friend helps him with his hectare garden

"I designed it myself. I am fascinated by these tall grasses and meadow flowers, there will be more of them. Just have more time ... That's why my friend Michal helps me with the garden. But I like to sit here and listen to the birds sing. They inspire me musically," he says.

In the garden there are gazebos, a shed for tools and also a tramp's hut, like something out of a western movie. "Here I built with my own hands for Tereza. When she was little, she liked to play here," she points to the dolls belonging to the successful singer.

The farmhouse is a combination of wood and stone

The spacious farmhouse is a sign of Laď's favorite materials, i.e. wood and stone. "The reconstruction was largely done by construction companies, but I did a lot of things with my own hands, like this wooden ceiling," he proudly shows off his work.

The house contains the apartment of the Kerndl family, Tereza also has her own here, you will find an indoor swimming pool, a wine cellar... But what Laďa emphasizes is the fact that the estate was not only built for his family: "My next dream was to build a jazz club, where I now meet with friends and play music here. You'll also find a small museum in which I collect things from people I've worked with. And there is also a hall for more than 130 people, which we rent with complete service for various events, company evenings, celebrations, trainings and weddings. We also organize charity events and concerts here."

Exciting secrets of old chairs

"Old chairs hide indecipherable secrets, that's why I collect them," says Laďa. Author: Jaroslav VolnýKerndl,%20statek,%20bydleni,%20singer,%20garden,%20jazz,%20swing " alt="595368:gallery:false:false:true" width="191" height="142" />Laďa confirms her fondness for things "destined to perish" with her unusual hobby - collecting old chairs, which after renovation equips his club. When I arrived, he was unloading two new catches from his car.

"These decades-old chairs are not all about trickery and the honest craftsmanship that exudes from them. It excites me that no one will ever know how many generations people sat on them. What joys and worries, pains they resolved on them... All of this is undoubtedly hidden in them," he thinks about his collection. "For me, the rarest chair is my father's and grandmother's."

She takes her vacation at home

Laďa Kerndl is currently working on a new album, The Most Famous Movie Melodies, which will be released this fall. "The opening song will be Mona Lisa, which is why I went to Paris to see the famous painting in person," he says. Together with the concerts, he has more than enough work. Does he even find time to take a vacation?
