Video from Makarska: 60 km of popular beaches and resorts on the Adriatic

The most picturesque beaches of Makarska can be found right on the edge of the Riviera in the small peaceful resort of Brela, where several of our travelers are heading. Dozens of small pebble beaches, partially shaded by pine trees (perfectly replaced by a parasol), line the villas of guesthouses and private homes here and there. The scenery is only slightly spoiled by the panorama of two larger concrete hotels.

There is also a traditional promenade with restaurants near the modest port, but don't expect any big bustle here. The place is ideal for an extremely quiet, perhaps even boring holiday. But also for meeting excursions from nearby Split, which the local beaches like to visit.

Baska voda

The neighboring, slightly busier resort of Baška voda (offer and prices of hotels, private homes and camps at www.baskavoda.hr) is an ideal berth for enthusiastic athletes. The town has a rich history and an unusual combination of the sea coast and the foothills of the Biokovo mountain massif and is therefore a great starting point for a tangle of cycling routes in mountainous terrain.

At the end of the pleasant harbor promenade is the Hotel Horizont, which has expanded its sports offer this year with a luxury wellness center accessible to non-hotel guests, so if you can't stay a day without a gym, this address will come in handy (an hour with a coach 21 euros).

You can also use several types of massages (30-60 euros), various saunas (around 20 euros for three people), cosmetics or a hairdresser. The indoor pool with hydromassage jets and a hot tub also offers good relaxation.

Makarska

You will experience a truly vibrant holiday right in the town of Makarska.

If you are tired of lying on the wide endless beach and bypassing dozens of stalls with snacks and souvenirs, numerous restaurants and cafes await you at the never-ceasing center.

You can get private accommodation for a double room here in the season, depending on the category from 30 to 60 euros per night, the cheapest hotel costs about 20 euros more.

And from the port you can go to the neighboring islands of Brac or Hvar, or just rent a boat for a cruise on the Adriatic.

Camping

There are also many shelters on the coast for camping lovers. For example, the large camp Dole near the resort Živogošče offers for rent wooden cottages, a place for caravans and our tourists popular tent rental - including refrigerator and electrical connection (price list and info in Czech: www.hoteli-zivogosce.hr).

For hiking enthusiasts, we recommend climbing a few kilometers above the camp into the mountains, where there is a typical home restaurant Strnj. The owner, Teo Brajković, will treat you to great grilled fish at an affordable price, you will taste several types of homemade schnapps and wine, and you will still have fun with him, because he speaks excellent Czech.
