The house at Bílků, which stands in the village of Mrákov, is being reconstructed and has been open to visitors again since October 28. Famous Chod embroiderers Anna and Marie Bílkova used to sew costumes here. Everything that they used and liked remained in the house and anyone interested can see it today.

Bozena Němcová, Karel Havlíček Borovský, Karel Jaromír Erben or Jindřich Šimon Baar once visited the building near Bílků. At the end of the 18th century, Jiří Bílek sewed Chod costumes in it. Thanks to the sisters Anna and Maria Bílková, the house became a certain focal point of Mrákov. The rather neglected house is now repaired and reopened to visitors.

Before the house was repaired, there were many holes and cracks in the ceiling and the plaster was falling off the walls. "We moved the furniture here a little and removed the carpets that were here, and we have the original plank floor here," described Ludmila Kašová, chairwoman of the Association of Friends of Lower Chodsk.

So there are no regular opening hours.

The house has changed its original color

The plaster of the once ocher building has changed to blue. "While carrying out the local reconstruction, Engineer Holoubek peeled off the individual layers of plaster and found that there was white, gray, yellow, ocher and also this blue, which is not found on other houses around," stated Ludmila Kašová. Now it is possible to recognize the house near Bílků in the village in Mrákov at first glance.

House no. 3, which, according to the extract from the land register, stood in Mrákov even before 1836, was bought by the municipality in 2016. Subsequently, repairs were started, divided into three stages. In the first stage, the roof was repaired, in the next the drainage of the house, and in the last stage the interior plastering was repaired, a completely new facade was made and the windows and doors were renovated. The total cost of buying the house and its reconstruction came to one million and 200 thousand crowns. Roughly half was covered by subsidies from the Pilsen region.
