Štěpánka's park will change within a year, the city wants to invest nearly 29 million

The deputies first discussed the topic of Štěpánčin park at a working meeting, then last June eleven votes decided on revitalization. Among the coalition representatives, Miroslav Lorenc (ANO) abstained, but opposition representative Jakub Nepustil (Živé Prachatice) joined. "The representatives want to revitalize all at once and not in stages. It should start around October, with the modification of the greenery, for which the vegetative rest period will apply at that time. The construction work itself will only start in the spring," Prachatyk mayor Martin Malý said recently. The project as such is completely ready with a building permit. It should be completed in June 2022.

Štěpánča Park will change within a year, the city wants to invest almost 29 million in it

The project envisages the modification of the area behind SNP 559, where there will be a parking lot for residents of the locality, who have been complaining about the lack of space for a long time, and behind the neighboring grocery store. There will be a new footpath from the center to the Na Sadech housing estate. There is also the possibility of a subsidy. "We will ask the region for this next year," plans Martin Malý and assures that the city of Prachatice will not incur debt to modify the park and its surroundings and thus connect the entire location to the already ongoing reconstruction of the summer cinema. "We have set the budget for this year too pessimistically and it seems that revenues are developing better than we expected," said Martin Malý.
