New green savings: up to 450 thousand from the state

The subsidy can be used for renovations of family and apartment houses, such as insulation of facades, roofs, ceilings, replacement of windows and doors. Households are also entitled to money for the construction of family and apartment houses in the passive or low-energy standard, the acquisition of solar systems for water heating and electricity production, the acquisition of a green roof, equipment for the use of heat from wastewater and recuperation.

The program can also finance the replacement of electric heating with a heat pump system or the replacement of heaters such as fireplaces or stoves with a more environmentally friendly method of heating, such as biomass boilers or heat pumps. It is also possible to finance outdoor shading technology, such as outdoor blinds, shutters or sunblinds.

Applications can be submitted until the set allocation is exhausted or no later than 31 December 2021.

The most money to build a house

You can get the highest support, up to 450 thousand crowns, up to 50 percent of eligible expenses, for the construction of a new family house with very low energy consumption.

The state will also support the construction of a green roof in the amount of 500 crowns per square meter, the use of heat from wastewater in the amount of five thousand crowns for one decentralized system or elaboration of an expert opinion and the measurement of air permeability of the building envelope in the amount of 35 thousand crowns.

The conditions for obtaining the subsidy include that the applicant can only be the first owner of the house, the installation of sources using renewable energy sources is carried out by a supplier with the appropriate authorization and the maximum size of the family house is 350 m2.

The measure must be completed within 36 months of the date of acceptance of the application and the relevant date for determining the eligibility of expenditure is a maximum of 24 months before the date of registration of the application.

Apartment buildings in Prague

In Prague, you can also apply for a subsidy for insulation and energy sources in apartment buildings, up to 30 percent of eligible costs. The state will support the exchange of energy sources, 7,500 crowns per apartment unit solar thermal systems, 12,500 crowns per installed kilowatt-hour photovoltaic systems and 20 to 25 thousand crowns per apartment unit controlled ventilation system with heat recovery.

The total amount of support per application is in the case of a combination with insulation up to 30 percent of the total eligible expenditure, in the case of a single measure a maximum of 25 percent of the total eligible expenditure. The green roof in the amount of 500 crowns per square meter is also subsidized. Along with the insulation of the apartment building, you can also apply for a contribution for the preparation of an expert opinion and the provision of professional technical supervision in the amount of up to 40,000 crowns.

For thermal insulation, the subsidy applies only to buildings for which the application for a building permit was submitted before 1 July 2007. The implementation of the measure must be completed within 18 months from the date of acceptance of the application.

Even outside the capital, it is possible to obtain a subsidy for the construction of an apartment building with very low energy intensity or a change to an already completed apartment building that did not meet the criteria of a passive house before the start of the reconstruction. The fixed amount of support is 1300 crowns per square meter of energy reference area of ​​a complete residential part of an apartment building.

The aid can reach up to 30 percent of the total eligible expenditure for all measures, up to a maximum of 15 percent of the total construction expenditure. Even in this case, the construction of a green roof is supported in the amount of 500 crowns per square meter, you can get five thousand crowns for each apartment unit connected to central and decentral systems using heat from wastewater for preheating hot water.

Support for up to 70,000 crowns can be obtained for the elaboration of an expert opinion, supervisory activities and measurement of the air permeability of the building envelope.

Applications only electronically

Applications for all programs are delivered electronically to the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic. If the Fund finds that the application or project has shortcomings preventing administration, the applicant has sufficient time to correct it. The so-called three-week rule is set in the program. By this time, the applicant will receive a response to the submission or supplementation of the application. If the application is submitted after the completion of the work and is flawless, the payment of support to the applicant's account is guaranteed within nine weeks of the submission of the application.

Recommended products simplify the application

You will find a list of recommended products and technologies on the fund's website. You can find the same list here. Alternatively, an opinion on the project is required from an authorized person.

"The list of products, materials and technologies significantly simplifies the submission and subsequent processing of the grant application. The use of products from the list is optional. However, if the applicant decides to use these products for the construction or reconstruction of a house with the New Green Savings subsidy, this will save time and paperwork in the final documentation of modifications, "Ondřej Charvát, a spokesman for the Ministry of the Environment, told Práva.

According to him, for products and materials from these lists, the applicant no longer has to submit documents stating that they meet the technical conditions of the subsidy program. "We do not prevent applicants from using other products. In this case, it is only necessary to prove the compliance of the technical properties of the materials and products used with the conditions of the New Green Savings Program, "he added.

There is no obligation for subsidies for construction work from New Green Savings to be a supplier company registered in the List of Professional Suppliers (SOD), the list is only recommended. However, the construction can also take place on its own in the presence of professional technical supervision.
