Concert hall

The background for the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra and guest artists is to be created as an extension of the existing House of Culture of the City of Ostrava. The modern extension in the shape of a violin case was designed by the renowned American architect Steven Holl - an American architectural leader at the beginning of the millennium. The hall and the reconstruction of the "cultural center" cost 2.6 billion crowns, with the addition of current and project costs even 2.9 billion! The city relies on state subsidies (600 million), counties (300 million), its savings and credit.
