Jihlava opens a new asylum house for men, offers privacy in microbytes

“Everything is completed. We are waiting only for the approval and then we can move, ”said David Chlupáček, director of SKPJ.

The new building will replace the existing asylum house in Tchaikovskeho Street in the center of Jihlava.“The shelter was created there in the early 1990s and since then there have been no significant repairs, only three years ago the bathroom and showers were repaired. The situation there is already tragic, ”explained Chlupáček, why about five years ago the idea of building a new asylum house was created, which would correspond more to current trends and fulfill higher demands on privacy.

In Tchaikovskeho Street, men are accommodated in rooms of five to six people.“Except for the bed, they have no privacy. It does not support their involvement in life and society, ”he explained.

The concept of the new asylum house is built completely differently.Clients will live in small microbytes one by one.

“Every apartment has about ten square meters. We managed to place the toilet, shower and small worktop with sink, kettle and refrigerator in this micro -shell.Of course there is also a bed and a wardrobe inside, ”described the director of the basic equipment of the apartment.

The rate is one hundred crowns per day and night

The large kitchen is common for everyone in the hallway. In the home, SKPJ staff will have a constant service day and night.

Asylum accommodation can be used for one year, but it will not be free.

“The rate is one hundred crowns per day and night. So per month approximately three thousand crowns. This payment is carried on its shoulders by the client.Of course, it can draw social benefits, but the goal is to move them to change, for example by getting a job and a constant income, ”recalls Chlupáček.

Jihlava otevře nový azylový dům pro muže, nabídne soukromí v mikrobytech

The shelter is not entirely for everyone.Social workers require clients a certain degree of cooperation, efforts to solve their problem, become independent and integrate into everyday life.It is also necessary to observe internal rules, such as a ban on alcohol consumption in the building.

"The moment we don't work, we break down," the director reminded, adding: "We would like to profile people who are able to find a job in Mlýnská Street."

Demonstration of neighbors?We will see

The proximity of the new asylum house is caused by the inhabitants of the surroundings of mutual coexistence.“You know I'm a little scared. We will see how it will work and what will live there for people. But a little bit now stands and there are no problems with them, ”shrugs the man who lives in the street.

Mrs. Tereza, who lives in the neighborhood of the Asylum House, is also worried.“We are definitely not enthusiastic about it in the street. We do not know exactly what awaits us, who will live there.I live here alone with the child and the idea that after dark the walking dog is not quite pleasant, ”she described.

According to the director Chlupáček, the center did not receive any negative responses. It also draws attention to the good experience of the asylum house in Tchaikovskeho Street.“We have been there for decades and there are no neighborly disputes because of our clients. There is no increase in criminal activities, ”he compared.

For the revitalization of a long series of years of dilapidated house in Mlýnská Street, the Center of Christian Assistance Jihlava received a subsidy of 16 million crowns.

“This includes the purchase of real estate, the preparation of the project and the construction work itself, which cost less than 13 million crowns.I think it has been very good to see now after the renewal and I dare say that it is a house with the most beautiful facade in the street, ”says director David Chlupáček.

After repairing a dormitory

The plan also has a center with a building in Tchaikovskeho Street, which will be released after moving the shelter.“We want to set up what is missing in Jihlava, a low -threshold center and a dormitory. There will be rooms of more people, a common toilet, a kitchen, there will be laundry or basic hygiene.Unlike the Asylum House in Mlýnská Street, Tchaikovsky will service for people who do not have independence or do not want it, ”he explains.

The construction work will first be required before commissioning.“We already have a building permit. The building is very neglected. There are still old wiring, ”he recalls.

The Christian Aid Center operates a shelter for men, a winter dormitory in Hawaii and field programs for homeless people.Another Jihlava Center for Christian Aid is focused on women and families with children and operates asylum accommodation on Žižkova Street.
