The change of old houses is handled by the designer Halvor Bakke in five days, of course with careful preparation. The Chat in the Finnskogen area, which represents a continuous forest area with a number of lakes, was entrusted to the transformation of the Alnaes family.

Gunn Alnaes was barely 15 kilometers from where the cottage stands. That is why she may regret that her son, a 24 -year -old Ule college student, doesn't come here too much. Before his friends, the interior of the cottage, which his grandparents were arranged according to the motto "what the house gave", is a little ashamed.

Light to the house, terrace in front of chat

The cottage above the lake is turned to the west, so the space in front of it has enough sun (so if the weather is nice). Therefore, Halvor decided to create a large terrace where it will be possible to dine, grill or just relax. In the terrace, which with its organic shapes adapted perfectly to its surroundings, he left a hole for a high pine.

On the terrace of the impregnated and oiled wood resistant to all the whims of the weather, the floating pier is attached, from which the owners have a wonderful view of the sunset, but also serves for easy access of hardy swimmers to the lake.

Jak se staví sen po norsku: stará chata dostala plovoucí molo i terasu

The interior of the cottage had to be illuminated and also to get rid of the heterogeneous equipment that Gunn's parents induced here as unnecessary household pieces.

The broken white on the walls and the white window frames brightened significantly. This trick was used by the designer very successfully in the first episode of the Norwegian Dream Houses series, it is certainly a good tip for owners of domestic cottages.

Old furniture disappeared.Modern large dining table and leather chairs as well as new kitchen equipment have increased the comfort of use as well as a new corner sofa.

The fireplace made of white bricks, which Halvor did not like at all, was also given a new form, because he reminded him of the Greek islands.Above the modified fireplace, the head of the lot was given a new honorary place, which has decorated the wall in the cottage from the very beginning.

The new program of the Norwegian dream houses is captured by the natural scenery of the country, its tradition, history, and above all the devotion of the locals to old buildings.During the holidays, the Norwegian plunges into the mountains and the archipelago to rest and return to the roots of traditional life in Scandinavian cottages.

During the 20th century, more than 400,000 were built in Norway, many without running water or electricity. Now much of them are deteriorating and needing renovation.

Designer Halvor Bakke designed a large terrace, but with its organic shapes completely adapted to the surroundings.
