How Krab chose the car he necessarily (doesn't) need

The truth is that after the arrival of the little Crab, more things happened at once. I found out that a toy car daddy has about (perhaps you can't count what percentage) less time than a toy car daddy. But even that does not exclude that at a time when the baby is crying and toddling (actually this is an inaccurate expression, because it makes more than enough of those sounds), Dad can finally be engaged in second-hand dreaming on the Internet.

My mother's car driver was already working part-time and occupied our family car, which I had used before in exactly those situations where I was (in the words of a friend) "shit" and I was sorry to use my sports cars. So I couldn't think of anything other than seeing the need for another car, and I'll admit it, sixth.

The task was clear: it must not cost more than two hundred thousand crowns, it must not be boring, it must be very well controlled, a branch must also fit into it, and I admit it, because I am also a person who is a little vain, it should do nice impression on the friends of the car driver, because the shared joy and the virtual pat on the shoulders will simply please. I probably won't pack the girls anymore…

The selection was pretty schizophrenic because it contained the following cars, I'll take it alphabetically in order:

I wanted the Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 V6 24V the most and I would probably be the most disappointed in its driving characteristics, at least according to what Vavris used to write about it. But the design of the Pininfarina studio is simply amazing. Maybe if I could go around Italy, there would be a nice one in the end. But you really can't keep up between work, lunch break and a carriage walk. And there has been nothing worth talking about in Czech advertising for a long time. And one silver car, which sold for about a quarter of a million sometime last year, has long since disappeared from advertising. And in general, if I had chosen a nice AR GTV, I would have a hard time taking it in the snow and salt. So I really wouldn't help it…

BMW E36 325i / 328i (2 doors) This car is a very scarce product and it is almost impossible to find a well-preserved original piece in a tasteful color combination. Or it is, but it already costs over ten thousand euros, because the E36s suddenly get into the area of ​​purely fan cars. Corrosion is the enemy and a really nice and well-preserved car, which is like saffron, I would not want to use again all year round. I would feel sorry for him.

BMW E46 330i M package (even 4-door) It seems to be a fantastic car, qualitatively just a step below the once unbeatable five E39 and well-maintained specimens still drive great today. Although M54 engines like to eat oil, for example, ours in the family X3 2.5i hardly consumes even a little. I guess I'm just very lucky. A couple of interesting cars are currently available in Czech advertising, but I still suspect that finding a really nice 330i in our environment will be looking for a needle in a haystack.

Lexus IS200: This car is no longer in advertising today, because there were few sold at that time, let alone preserved to this day. I once rode in IS200 and I must say that it had a very positive effect on me. The soft in-line six-cylinder turned out great, the graphics of the dashboard had an idea and the car was built very well. The Bavarian fans forgive, but this was the "better three". But to get some of this car today, I would have to look for a long time.

Mazda RX8 - I quickly talked about this idea to myself, because in reality you have to be a real fan and want exactly this car in order to somehow be able to defend the purchase of Wankel's engine in front of you. But the truth is also that I've never driven any yet and maybe made a mistake…

Mini Cooper S R53 JCW kit - I was finally driving with this car, by pure chance a piece appeared in the advertisement that looked promising. Preserved cars without corrosion are really slow in this generation of Mini, and when I got into it after getting off Elise and saw that the bends around Mnichovice and Střuhařov in the Benešov region, where I took a trip, the car pounded like a raspberry, with the steering balanced just like that. just so it was painted. Old (new) I enjoy the Mini with a compressor engine, a self-locking differential at the front and a pleasantly short-fold, precision-running transmission. I've driven it at least once before and I've always liked it. I'm already looking forward to some of the first good kilometers and trips. Kids love the Mini and so do I!

And which cars did not have time to make it to the finals?

In fact, I originally had a great interest in a certain Saaba 9-3 Aero in a three-door version. It's a complete classic and a lot of nice pieces don't just roll in advertisements. But the lightness and agility of the Mini changed my plans. Then I didn't look or ride in any Renault Clio RS 197 or older 172/182. These are cars that really can, and I've always smiled like a nerd behind their wheel. But there has been nothing tricky in advertising lately, and getting Clio in good shape and undamaged is also a great art.

And the last car I went to see, and I'm sure I'd love to write about it in detail, was the Subaru Legacy 3.0 R Spec B. I know it's a big shift from shopping bags to the middle class, to a comfortable sedan that can turn and whose the engine sounds beautiful. In addition, the Spec B has a short six-speed transmission and is a joy to drive. So a certain silver sedan is still in advertising and is waiting for the new Subarist to take care of it. I think it's definitely worth it, because that's how rare this car is today. And how many sedans with a horizontal six-cylinder at the front with all-wheel drive and a manual transmission do you know? I know no other like that…

PS: Anyway, Krab will be a Minikář, so I will definitely welcome further contacts with Minikář and we will definitely come up with a nice trip with them when the weather is nice.
